This summer has gotten off to a rough start for many rave-lovers and festival-goers. The vast majority of such events have been canceled for at least the first portion of the summer, leaving many of us with rave clothing and nowhere to wear it. But don’t just leave those outfits hanging in your closet or shoved in the back of your drawer! Use it for a sexy at-home photo shoot instead! Here are a few tips to have the perfect photoshoot.

Choose Your Favorite Outfit

Many people feel awkward or unsure of themselves in front of a camera. You don’t want your outfit to make you feel even more uncomfortable. So choose your absolute favorite outfit that you feel your best in. Pick something that makes you feel totally confident so that confidence can shine through on camera. Whether it’s a pair of rave shorts and a mesh crop top, a metallic bodysuit, or a large t-shirt and fishnet stockings--if you feel confident in it, that’s what really matters.

Do Your Hair and Makeup

Of course, no photoshoot is complete without full hair and makeup, so do yourself up just like you would if you were actually going to a festival. Style your hair or a wig. Do your makeup in a way that complements your outfit. You can go big and bold, or keep it simple with some dark eyeliner, lashes, and lipstick. Again, it’s all about what makes you feel your best.

Add Some Accessories

You wouldn’t go to a festival or rave without your accessories, would you? Of course not! So add them to your outfit for your photoshoot as well. Add earrings, a headband, hair clips, sunglasses, long gloves, funky socks, chains, or whatever else you feel will complete your outfit.

Get Posing Inspiration

If you’re not someone who’s naturally comfortable in front of the camera, you might want to look up some poses to get inspiration for your photoshoot. Look on Instagram, or even look through the product photos here on our website to get inspiration from our models! You can even find YouTube videos on how to pose for a photoshoot. Don’t be afraid to try something you’ve never done before. Remember, it’s just you and the camera, so there’s nothing to be afraid of!

Place Your Camera in Front of a Mirror

You’ll probably find it extremely helpful to put your camera or phone in front of a mirror. This allows you to see yourself so you can make sure you’re posing just right and your outfit and hair are precisely in place as you take your pictures. Otherwise, you’re kind of blindly hoping that you’re getting the right shot.

Get the Right Lighting

Lighting can be the trickiest part of a photoshoot, especially at home. You’ll want to find a space with as much natural lighting as possible. A big window with lots of sunlight is obviously your best bet. You can also supplement the light with lamps if necessary. If you really want the professional look, consider investing in a ring light.

Add a Backdrop

Just because the photoshoot is at home, doesn’t mean you want it to look like it’s at home. Hang a tapestry behind you or add a backdrop through an editing app. If doing the latter, try shooting in front of a blank wall for easier editing.

Use a Tripod and Timer

A tripod holds your phone or camera steady, and setting it to portrait mode will ensure the camera focuses on you. A self-timer lets you strike a pose without needing to hold the camera yourself. Utilize all these settings for the best shot.

Have Fun!

Finally, have fun and be yourself! No, you won’t love every photo. But the more fun you’re having, the better your photos will look. Your happiness and confidence will shine through in every shot. So put on some music, be silly, be creative, and just enjoy the moment!
