If you’re getting ready to head to a rave, it’s important that you know what to bring. Even experienced ravers can forget essential items in all of the excitement of choosing your rave outfits and getting ready to go, so it helps to have a checklist of things to pack. We’ve put together a quick list of items that you’ll need, so be sure to bring them along!

Fanny Pack

For starters, you’ll want something to keep your essential items close—and a lot of rave outfits don’t have any pockets on them. So, it’s a good idea to bring a fanny pack with you that’s large enough to hold all of the other little items listed below. Don’t worry, fanny packs are a pretty common sight at raves nowadays, so you won’t look like you stepped out of the ’90s. You’ll blend right in!

Hand Sanitizer and Wipes

While a lot of people are more conscientious of their hands’ cleanliness nowadays, these were necessities at raves long before they became staples in everyday life. Raves are closely packed, crowded, sweaty events that often take place on dusty fields, and handwashing stations can be very hard to find. Do you really want to take a snack break and put your fingers to your mouth under those conditions? Absolutely not! You’ll want to be able to sanitize your hands quickly and easily, so you can get back to the party that much faster.

Portable Charger

You might not think you’ll be on your phone much when enjoying the rave, but you’ll be surprised by how quickly your phone’s battery will drain. Raves can often extend to full-day events, so it’s important to be prepared to recharge your phone. You could just bring a cord, as many locations today have charging stations, but odds are, you’ll be waiting in line for a spot to charge. Instead, bring a portable charger with its own battery pack. You can plug your phone in right inside your fanny pack and keep dancing!

It’s incredibly important that your phone is ready for action throughout the rave. For starters, you’ll want to be able to record your favorite DJ, take photos with your group, and post on social media. But more importantly, your phone is a safety tool. It helps you locate your group members if you get separated, allows you to check in with others who aren’t there, so they know you’re safe, and helps ensure that you arrive home safely when the party is over. Always make sure your phone is charged when you’re at a rave!

Facemask

This is another long-time rave item that’s recently become a part of people’s everyday lives. But facemasks were important at raves long before COVID hit for many reasons. For starters, as we already mentioned, a lot of these events take place in dusty outdoor environments, and inhaling the dust kicked up by all those dancers isn’t very pleasant. Additionally, smoking is relatively common at raves, and if you find it hard to tolerate, a mask can help to filter out some of the smoke around you. Be sure to pack one that matches your outfit!

Hydration Pack

Hydration is incredibly important. When you’re out in the sun all day and dancing well into the night, you can easily become dehydrated. Water is not always readily available at raves, so you should plan to bring your own. Of course, carrying out several water bottles isn’t a super appealing option, so look for sleek hydration packs in colors that match your outfit. This allows you to carry your water on your back and take regular sips throughout the event.
