EDM wear for women is known for being vibrant, unique, and a bit unusual. Generally speaking, however, it is not known for its practicality. Bodysuits, bikini tops, and rave shorts are incredibly fun and empowering to wear, but they don't offer much functionality. Don't assume you have to sacrifice fashion for function if you want something more practical to wear to your next music festival. Here are our top tips for wearing something that's both practical and trendy.
Think about Support
When choosing your rave top, think about the amount of support it will provide and how much support you think you'll need for the event. If you plan to be on the outskirts, listening to music with your friends, you might not need to worry too much about support. However, if you want to be up in the mosh pit and right by the stage, dancing throughout the festival, you'll need a top that provides you with enough support for all that jumping.
There are a lot of stylish rave tops out there that can provide you with ample support so that you're completely comfortable while dancing to your favorite songs. Look for something with wider straps and a bit more coverage, so you don't have to worry about tiny straps pinching your skin or any unfortunate wardrobe malfunctions.
Go with Rave Shorts
Bikini bottoms can be a popular choice for raves and music festivals. However, they can ride up a bit more, especially if you intend to do a lot of dancing. Again, as we mentioned earlier, you may be fine with bikini bottoms if you're planning to enjoy the music in a more laid-back manner. But if you're doing a lot of moving around at the EDM festival, you'll want something that stays in place and won't chafe. We recommend going with a bit more length on those bottoms and opting for rave shorts instead.
Rave shorts still show off plenty of leg and won't make you overheat as pants might. If you're wearing a romper or bodysuit, look for something with a slightly longer cut on the bottom as well. This will help you to feel more comfortable throughout the evening.
Remember Your Bag
To this point, we haven't addressed the fact that most women's EDM outfits don't provide any storage space for festival essentials like water, your phone, and your wallet. For this, you'll typically need to bring a bag. It's incredibly important that you look up the bag rules for your attending festival. Some may not allow anything larger than a fanny pack, while others will only allow larger bags if they're made of a clear material.
Once you've brushed up on the rules, you can select a coordinating bag to carry your essentials. We typically recommend a fanny pack, as it's not overly burdensome and can be found in many fun colors to match your outfit.
Choose Practical Shoes
Finally, choose your shoes wisely. EDM festivals tend to be held outdoors in large, open fields. While flip-flops or sandals might work for those who want to sit on the sidelines, you'll want something more practical if you want to be in the heart of things. A pair of sturdy Doc Martens or rave boots are an excellent choice. Remember that the floor can get a bit churned up under all those feet, so don't wear something you're worried about getting muddy.
